Get Ready for the Propaganda: Anti-Defamation League Warns of White Supremacists Taking Over Tea Parties

My first instinct was that this warning about white supremacists at the tea parties was propaganda, but maybe it’s not? Anytime people come together, this will include nutjobs. There were no supremacists at the Times Square tea party, that’s for sure. I tend to think this is propaganda.

Also, it’s not like the Anti-Defamation League put out warnings when people were protesting against Bush that there would be anti-Israel anti-semites there. It’s not like anybody warned that there would be anti-military nuts there. It’s not like anybody talked about environmental terrorists or other criminals. I guarantee you that if you took one of the crowds at an anti-Bush protest and a tea party crowd and checked everybody’s record, that there’d be more criminal records in the anti-Bush crowd. Guaranteed. But that’s ’cause the justice system is so damn unfair, right?

Anyway, if I did encounter white supremacists handing out racist materials I would very surreptitiously (because those people are crazy) take their photos, and I would also inform the nearest policeman and others in the crowd.

White Supremacists May Attempt To Co-Opt July 4 “Tea Parties” To Promote A Hateful Agenda

New York, NY, July 2, 2009 … White supremacists and neo-Nazi hate groups plan to take advantage of the anti-tax “Tea Parties” set to occur in more than 1,000 cities and localities over the July 4 holiday weekend to disseminate racist fliers and other materials and attempt to recruit others to their cause, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

ADL’s Center on Extremism, which monitors extremist groups and provides information to law enforcement and the public, has released information on its Web site describing the attempt by white supremacists to co-opt the anti-tax message of the events as a means to spread racism and anti-Semitism.

On Stormfront, the most popular white supremacist Internet forum, members have discussed becoming local organizers of the “Tea Parties” and finding ways to involve themselves in the events. Many racists have voiced their intent to attend these rallies for the purpose of cultivating an “organized grassroots White mass movement,” with some suggesting that they would do so without openly identifying themselves as racists.

According to Tea Party organizers, rallies are currently planned in all 50 states and in 1,328 cities.

IN ALL 50 STATES AND IN 1,328 CITIES! WHOOH-HOOH!

UPDATE: Curmudgeon Emeritus informs me that the Anti-Defamation League says whatever it’s paid to say (see comments).

FIGHT LIES WITH THE TRUTH.

The ADL has been untrustworthy for quite some time. Whatever its original mission, it exists today strictly to perpetuate its own existence. That mainly involves keeping the donations rolling in, to which end the ADL will devote whatever scurrilities and baseless imputations it can dream up.

Recall that the head of the New York ADL was up in arms against Mel Gibson’s marvelous movie The Passion Of The Christwithout ever having seen it. For me, that’s a barometer to be trusted.
