Obvious, but still funny.
On Special Report tonight:
Byron York: “I mean, at his press conference he said he spent the last five days crying in Argentina- who’s that going to appeal to?”
Charles Krauthammer: “Broadway fans?”
I don’t want to hear his emails. It sounds like he had some middle-aged folie. I don’t care. Please don’t read me his emails about tan lines. Who among us who’s ever been in love could bear such scrutiny?
Krauthammer, with the proviso “I don’t want to be the acting psychiatrist on every show,” diagnosed it as career suicide, and agreed with my initial reaction (natch, heh heh), which was that the problem with Sanford’s behavior is the “dereliction of his duties.” The problem was he’s the governor, and he couldn’t be located. I disagree with Michelle Malkin on this issue. It is immaterial to me that Sanford spent Father’s Day with his whore instead of his wife and sons, and I don’t feel that because he did not honor his marriage vows it is impossible for him to be trusted to honor his oath of office. The issues are that he was unable to be located for four days- as Krauthammer pointed out, what if there had been an emergency- and whether he used any public funds for his trip to Argentina. Whether he’d gone to Argentina to tango, whore, proselytize, or shoot craps- immaterial to me.
Am I still welcome in the Republican party?

Sanford has a hot story but no book deal. How long can THAT last?
